Description
Docent: Lizzy
This course provides an introduction to the different processes for making bentwood components. Small practical assignments preceded by theoretical explanations teach the student to bend wood using heat, steam, by building up the curved component from layers (lamination) and also by means of a few less frequently used methods (cut MDF, flexible wood, thermo-formable plywood.) Through these exercises the student also gains insight into the properties of a steam box, making molds and the vacuum press.
The course consists of 2 parts: an online part where you will find theoretical information and a practical part that you follow at a suitable location.
You will receive access to the online section immediately after completing your registration. For the practical day, you register on the agreed date and location.
Location: Bulb, Meulestedekaai 1, 9000 Ghent

Many thanks Lizzy for this very inspiring training. We appreciated the quality of the workshop very much, both the theoretical preparation as well as the on-site practical session. We received a very good overview of the different bending techniques with insightfully hands-on exercises. It was all very well prepared and great to have such a passionate teacher explaining us this very interesting dimension in the world of woodworking. Many thanks again!
