Bio, say something about yourself | I have a restless mind. I spend the first 8 years of adulthood travelling around staying alive doing temporary jobs in the travel industry, tour guiding, instructing rock climbing, skiing, … It brought me to wonderful parts in the US, Asia, south America and Europe. At 26 I entered Parnham College in the UK and studied as a furniture designer and maker. After completion I did a research project at GK-Design in Tokyo. Since then I have been active in the creative and educational fields. First running my studio in Barcelona and later in London. In London I was involved with the 6-million-pound funded makerspace project Metworks, part of the Metropolitan University. After some 20 odd years I settled in Ghent Belgium. I have since broadened my activities to interior design, general contracting and initiated the makerspace Bulb in Ghent, Belgium. My latest project is this maker-community-platform Makerspace Zone. I am intrigued by the way things work. I love to learn by trial and error. It’s the most thorough learning you can have. I think about problems, love to engage in world discussions and brainstorm on how we can do better. I draw enormous energy from failure. I have a natural urge to share what I have learned. The most important thing in my life is time. Without it nothing exists. The most valuable thing you can give me is your time. Every day you have less of it and once you gave it you can never have it back. Quotes I like: – There is no passion to be found playing it small and settling for less than a life you are capable of living. (Nelson Mandela) |
